J-Deals: connecting visitors to Japan with local shop offers
We designed and built the bilingual website for J-Deals, a location-based deals service that helps travellers in Japan find local offers and helps shops reach them.

01
Separate journeys for travellers and businesses
02
A four-step "How it works" that explains the service
03
English and Japanese website
01
The problem
Visitors to Japan often miss the local restaurants and shops worth finding, and small businesses have few affordable ways to reach travellers who don't read Japanese. The website had to explain one service to two very different audiences.
02
How we approached it
- 1
Separate journeys for travellers and for businesses, each with its own message and call to action.
- 2
A four-step "How it works" that explains finding, claiming and redeeming a deal.
- 3
Presented the service's core features: location-based deals, personalised recommendations, real-time updates and QR redemption.
- 4
English and Japanese versions.
03
Challenges we faced
One site, two audiences
Travellers want to know what's in it for them; shop owners want to know how they'll get customers. A traveller/business switch in the header keeps each audience on its own path instead of mixing both messages on one page.
Explaining a new idea quickly
Location-based deals are unfamiliar to many visitors, so the site leads with four feature cards and a short step-by-step flow illustrated with app screens.
