Project story

1

The project & client

Japan Fun Stuff is an e-commerce brand curating authentic Japanese products — seasonal gifts, limited-edition anime collectibles, the latest snack flavors — shipped straight from Tokyo to customers worldwide. It isn't a basic import store: it's a celebration of modern Japanese pop culture and cute overload.

Their brief was clear: bold, playful, packed with personality — and at the same time conversion-optimized, easy to navigate, and scalable. Balancing fun with a design that sells was the heart of the project.

2

Discovery & brand immersion

Before pixels and code, we immersed ourselves in the brand — product categories, customer personas, even the real-life unboxing experience — through brand questionnaires and competitor audits. From that we defined four goals: visually immersive fun; mobile-first for global users; fast loading even with image-heavy pages; and trust for international customers (clear shipping, returns, and payment info).

3

UI/UX planning & wireframes

We wireframed the key pages — homepage, filtered product listing, product detail, cart and checkout. The challenge was keeping the flow smooth without losing the playful identity: cute + clarity. Above the fold carried value props like "Express delivery from Tokyo"; mid-scroll surfaced popular categories and trust signals such as shipping and international-payment badges.

4

Visual identity & build

The visual system is bright pastels, bold typography, and quirky icons — modern, youthful, unmistakably Japanese. We optimized image-heavy pages to stay fast and delivered an admin the team can update entirely on their own.
